Streakin' Thru The Blogosphere. When I was three years old, my inquisitive nature led me on a joy-ride through the streets of the San Fernando Valley on my red tricycle. When the police found me, I was butt naked. I've always wondered how they managed to find where I lived and return me home safely.
In my later years, I quietly observed the world from the sidelines. I had a curiosity for people, places and things. I watched as others shook the apple tree, while I stood by and enjoyed the fallen fruit from my obscure corner of the world. Life seemed easy, breezy, peasy when I put on my rose colored glasses. As the years went by, my dreams of paradise faded into a cruel reality of daily drudge and dismal opportunity. I wondered, is this all there is?
Being a Spectator certainly has its benefits. There's little risk, and the wheels on the bus go round and round. But, there's something to be said for throwing caution to the wind, blazing a new trail and leaving dust clouds in the rear view mirror. I've never been comfortable with mediocrity or complacency, it's just not me. My senses are fully engaged in unfamiliar environments that are colorful, captivating, heartfelt and amusing. Grabbing life by the horns and riding the bull to the end is exciting, crazy, scary and satisfying. It's raw and real and it's definitely my comfort zone. Those who've tried to squelch my naked adventures know that I won't go without kicking and screaming.
I've recently traded my rose colored glasses for a pair of spectacles, but my adventurous spirit lives on. I suppose my insatiable thirst for paradise shall never be fully quenched. I still get naked on occasion and ride my bike thru the blogosphere of life... aka, The Naked Blogger. Fortunately, I no longer need a police escort to find my way home ;)

Mel
Thank you for explaining your moniker. Up till now you had me full of curiosity. cheers cvc
Mel, Keep streakin' baby! Your spirit is refreshing. Reminds me of one of of Steve Jobs' quotes: " ...You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."
That's pretty funny!! Streak on..... Blogging that is....
Glad you figured it out Curtis ;)
I knew there was a reason I liked Steve Jobs so much... Kathleen!
I will indeed... Jeanne & Ralph!
There's no such word as "thru"!!!!
The correct spelling is "through", not "thru".
Yes indeed Peter... isn't that the Naked Truth!
If that happened today your parents would probably get a visit from DYFS- and the Moniker would never exist!
Mel,
These are the best times of our lives, actually, they are always the best of times, and that is our Naked truth. A
Mel - your big, shining spirit comes through in every blog you write and while you look at life with the glass half full, you're no shrinking violet. It's really the perfect balance. I'm pretty naked myself - what you see is what you get, warts, flaws and all. People are always shocked how up front I am about being a recovering alcoholic. I'm proud that I kicked a deadly addiction and for anyone who thinks less of me, I probably wouldn't associate with them anyway!
I too am an adventurous spirit who loves to dangle from the side of cliffs, sleep in tents in the Serengeti with the lions roaring in the distance and scuba diving to the bottom of the ocean. It reminds me I'm alive and that there's so much in this world to be appreciated THAT CAN'T be bought! You're naked spirit is why we all identify with you because you say what others are thinking and make no apologies. You are real and nothing is better than being who you are! Love this post GF and you are a wonderful example to us all! Thanks for being you!
Mel - Your online name The Naked Blogger proves your adventurous spirit indeed still lives on! Thanks for the smile my friend.
Ahhh... Never say 'Never' Robert!
I totally agree Alexandra... and I wouldn't trade any of it!
You are much more naked and adventurous than I... Kris! And I love that about you too! I'm still toying with a personal staging post... a 'before' fat pic.... and an 'after' skinny pic ;))) I'm takin' pointers from you babe!
It's great to see your BIG Albuquerque smile John!
Oh I love that mental image of your 3 year old self unafraid and adventurous!! (And nice that you haven't really changed!!!) :)
Good for you for finding a little adventure in your life. Though I imagine your first streaking experience likely gave your parents hear failure.
Me too Nancy! It brings back memories ;)))
Funny Cindy ~ In those days, I was an early riser. I think I was back before they ever noticed I was gone!
Too funny. I ran off as a kid once... only I was in my closet and my family was looking all over the neighborhood. Glad to see your smiling face today.
You are always a treat to follow. Keep it real just as you are without any hesitation.
Mel
It sounds like you on a very interesting journey, enjoy the trip.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
It sounds like your adventurous spirit helps you to always live life to the fullest. And, learning how to live life to the fullest is what it's all about -- and a valuable lesson for all of us!
OMG Tammy... I did that once too... in the 7th grade. My Mom was sooooo mad! You're too funny!
Thanks Kev... I'm glad you find my posts interesting ;)
It's been a little like Mr. Toad's wild and scenic ride... Lou... and oh what a journey!
Indeed Carie... and there's never a dull moment ;)
Mel,
Now I understand why you're so spirited and fun - you started out being a baby streaker! That explains it. And everybody loves ya!
Life is an adventure - girls just want to have fun!
Keep on, keeping on!
Patricia
I just love this, what a great brand you have created. This coming from a guy who has a company called Studmuffin Media...LOL
Just keepin' it raw, real, and real fun... Patricia!
LOL for sure Michael... Your company name is for more interesting! Would love to hear how you came up with that!
Hi Mel ~~~
your words are reminiscent of crossing the portal to a new dimension...the 'aleph', the 'qi', the connection to the subconscious collective Matrix...to it's deepest core, and beyond ...into the past and future and into mysterious paths of renewal, growth and challenging... to mystical d4 dimensions. As you so kindly noted: we all have our chance to write and rewrite our destinies...you are an inspirational traveller thru the Blogosphere. Namaste (no adjectives today!)
Did I really miss this?
Mel Belle, you are such a bright, shining light - we can all learn from so much from your naked personality. Your ability to be so frank about yourself and your life is what makes you so very special. It takes a very well grounded individual to expose vulnerabilites. You open up your soul and what see is what we get - and it's always beautiful.
Ahhh, but you did Peter... 'you are an inspirational traveller thru the Blogosphere' ;))) Namaste!
I would have been late for the Ball if you hadn't reminded me what time it was Debb ;) I'm totally digging your localism posts these days. And thank you for your lovely comments... you always make me smile!
Mel, the side lines do provide a certain comfort zone in life, but not much life...I like the adreniline rush of hanging from a cliff and pulling myself back, risking it all and gaining that much more.
Me too Nick... there's something to be said for adreniline rush adventure ;)
That's funny, Mel. I am glad things were reversed and that you weren't riding around on your bake butt naked in later years. It would have been a tad more embarrassing.
