Southern Oregon Living: Kickin' the Can Around on a Lazy Day!

Kickin' the Can Around on a Lazy Day!

Kickin' the Can Around on a Lazy Day!Kickin' the Can Around on a Lazy Day!  It's pretty rare that I don't have any pressing issues to deal with on a weekend, particularly a holiday weekend.  Yesterday, I held an Open House from 1-3pm.  I wore a cute sundress hoping I could catch a few rays outside while reading a good book.  One of my former agents stopped by to say hello and the time just flew by as we sat in the backyard, shooting the breeze and catching up on life.  Before I knew it... I had a tan!

Afterwards, I drove 30 miles to my favorite coffee shop, Mellelo Coffee Roasters, in Medford Oregon to enjoy a mocha.  They're the best!  Then I did something I rarely do... I found a random salon and had a pedicure and manicure.  The most amazing thing happened... I was able to live without my phone, texting and email for 2 hours while being pampered.  I should do that more often!

My evening was just as lovely... I enjoyed dinner with a friend at my favorite eclectic restaurant, Circle J Cafe, in Grants Pass.  The name makes it sound like it's a ho-down kind of place, but it's not.  They have wild neon pics with flashing red lights inside, with pictures of Jesus and Buddha hanging on a dark red wall, and all sorts of funky decor randomly scattered throughout the place.  It's an engaging environment (which I like) and the food is always great.

Then I was off to the movies (thanks to a friend who encouraged me to learn how to use my DVR).  I stayed up late (2am) watching a cool flick, Charlie St. Cloud.  It was a bit of a tear-jerker, but inspirational for sure.  I love those feel-good kind of movies... where the guy gets the girl in the end ;)  I guess I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic when it comes to love.

It was fun just kickin' the can around on a lazy day!  I hope the rest of you are doing the same this weekend!  Happy 4th!

Sounds like a perfect day!  With all of the right elements, friendship, spoiling of yourself, good food and a splash of work!  Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.

Melinda, those days don't come around very often for me and I wish they would.  In Chicago I lived for early Sunday morning motorcycle rides with a buddy of mine.  We would take off for the day just pointing the bikes in a different direction each week...it cleared the mind and wiped the slate clean for another week. Life is way too short not to take advantage of a lazy day and just kick the can around!

Melinda, That sounds like a wonderful day. Mine too!

My day went like this;  I spent the morning tidying up a little at my Bentonville cottage knowing it was back to Eureka Springs after showing houses in the afternoon. I wrote a quick letter to a friend that needs a little of my sage advice (lol). I picked up the buyers at 11:45. The showings went well in the 100 degree heat. I suspect that Monday evening I'll be writing an offer for these buyers. Back to Eureka Springs for a relaxing evening with M. and daughter Pam stopped by. Sweet!

Melinda - a perfect day of going with the flow. Such days are rare, but when they happen they are golden.

You just made me think perhaps I should chuck the work and go watch that DVD of Gone With the Wind that my son got me for Christmas a couple of years ago.

Hmmm... what a thought.

No I do not agree with your claim. Government provides puilbc schools because of laws. The problems in our puilbc schools are primarly related to waste, lack of good methods, neglect, and poor management. Reasons for that are varied too. However, I do not believe that I have seen any proof that shows that our Government interferes with the establishment of PRIVATE SCHOOLS or similar. Again this was what I first reacted to when I replied to you.
