Looking in my Rear View Mirror

Looking in my Rear View MirrorLooking in my Rear View Mirror.  This past week has been a doosey!  Sometimes a look in the rear view mirror can bring perspective to the world of real estate.

This past week, I showed several homes to an out-of-town buyer, I wrote 3 offers for 3 separate buyers, I received an offer on one of my listings, I received 1 referral for a new listing, and I held an Open House on a fabulous new listing.  All of which took place on the heels of returning from a week-long business trip to Washington DC.

Whew... I must say, I am tired, but I am not complaining.  It always seems like things pick up when you are about ready to leave town.  I am certain that the feelers go out and the message is: Melinda Peterson is leaving town, so now is a good time to buy or sell Southern Oregon real estate.

Looking in my rear view mirror this week, I realized that it's all good.  Occasionally, you run into the Village Idiot who rains on your parade.  However, in spite of the occasional hiccups, I still love this job and consider it a privilege to be in the real estate profession.  For every Village Idiot, there are a handful more of grateful clients who appreciate our hard work in helping them realize their real estate dreams.

It's a good life and I am glad I am still in it.  Perhaps I should leave town more often :)

We always get busy when it's time to leave town!  Congrats on a successful week.  A look in the rear view mirror can be good as long as you don't spend so much time looking that you forget to watch where you're headed.  Great post!

Trying to leave town attracts a lot of last minute activities and it sounds like you certainly had a lot to wrap up Melinda! Congrats on being busy!

Congratulations on being so busy just as you were leaving town!  That is always the way - Murphy's Law, or something .....

MELINDA - It's the same with me, I don't go away very often but when I do, SHAZAM!  I even got fired once because I was in Hawaii and a buyer called and wanted to see a property NOW.  Buh-bye.  And now we have the full moon to look forward to next week.  Happy selling, I hope at least one of your offers gets accepted.

That's always the way.  Whenever you want to leave, that's when it picks up.  As Dagny says, Murphy is at it again.

Sometimes you just have to leave town even though busy. Only going when busy can easily be justiified.  If you are truly not busy, you need stay and get busy.

Yes you are right Melinda, you just have to THINK vacation and it gets busy! You are very lucky that when you got back, you were right back in full swing, sometimes it takes a bit to get the momentum going. They say never look back... its not a good thing, but we love the view in your rearview mirror there in that pic. Have a great one!

Melinda, I have learned through the years that if I am going through a slow period all I have to do is schedule a vacation, never fails, anytime I have to go out of town for any reason business picks and I end up on the phone etc for a good part of the time away, as with you I am not complaining, just noticed that aspect of business.
