Melinda Peterson's Adventures in Washington DC - Day 5. It was a fabulous day today in DC today. The sun came out and the temps were in the 80's, and the classes at the NAR mid-year conference were great.
The first class I attended was "Using Video to Promote Yourself and Your Properties." The panel included six Realtors from all over the country who are successfully using video marketing strategies in their business. Topics ranged from the benefits of using the Flip camera to discussing how to utilize YouTube in promoting your listings. The discussions began with very basic tips on how to affordably shoot, edit, and upload videos to the web. Each panelist shared one mistake they have made in their business regarding video marketing and also the most important benefits for using video marketing for real estate. By far, this was one of the best classes I attended this week.
The second class of the day was "Eight Lessons of Leadership from a Dirt Road." This class was taught by Terri Tucker and was a bit more philosophical in nature, but extremely entertaining. Terri sighted 8 famous, successful people who used some basic principles to enhance their lives and careers. Many of them discovered their passions along the "dirt road" and became incredibly insightful, productive individuals. I laughed and cried in this class, and I am not ashamed to say so. If you need a motivational speaker, Terri Tucker is the gal.
And, of course the day wouldn't be complete without dessert in DC!

I thought mid-year NAR was all legistlative, not for training classes. Live and learn.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the training in DC. Terry is awesome... Thanks for sharing some of your experiences in DC.
Wow, must be pretty intense if it made you cry! Hope you get out and see a bit of the city while you're there!
Melinda,
Nice. You got there at great time (weather-wise). Classes are of course, great, but they are just a bonus... At least I might have treated them this way ... break is needed
Hello Melinda and it sounds like you are having a fun time and that desert looks wonderful!
VB ;-)
Melinda -
How many others REALTORS were there from Oregon?
The dessert must have been great - otherwise there would have been more of it in the pix.
Thanks for the summary and the dessert looks delicious!
The "using video" class sounds very interesting. I wonder what the next platform will be?
Melinda, faithfully following your trip to DC. I just booked my room for DC rain camp. You know there will be blog or two on the trip and all the wonderful things I going to learn at rain camp...
Melinda,
I have heard that Terri Tucker is an inspiring speaker that speaks from the heart.
