Today, I found myself giving a Eulogy for The Death of a Listing. It was a difficult task, but a necessary one. It read like this:
Mr. Rambler passed away on Friday, October 30, 2009, leaving behind his neighbors and Realtor, who were visibly shaken from his sudden yet untimely death. Survived by two neighbors, (one of which is battling the cancer of all sales), who'll go on to diligently maintain the local neighborhood watch program.
It's a shame that very few people visited Mr. Rambler before his passing. He lived a life of solitude and loneliness, which may have contributed to his premature death. Mr. Rambler was a bit of a character, always wanting his cake and eating it too. Perhaps his insatiable appetite for potlucks, color flyers, and print advertising contributed to his demise. I'm sad to say that Mr. Rambler also lived a life above his means, and let his good looks go to pot as time went by. Surely, his high maintenance diet is what killed him.
Mr. Rambler will be buried where all dead listings go, the Expired Listing Cemetery. Let's remember, that in times like these, life must go on. There will be other Ramblers who will cross our paths in the future. We can only hope that they'll have better diets with healthier floor plans and kinder expectations. In the meantime, Mr. Rambler - May You Rest In Peace!

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure words of comfort will do little, but you will learn to live and sell again. There are more ramblers, 2 stories, tri-levels and split-entries waiting for someone to care for them as only you can, and you will lead them to the promised land of closing.
I don't know which is the best: Your post or Dan's comment.
Yes, I do know: It's Dan's youthful picture.
This one is almost an automatic!
Featured in the Group "Whacked!!!"
Very creative post! Hopefully, when the "will" is read, you will discover that Mr. Rambler has remembered you and all the things you've done on his behalf through the "years(?)".
Dan ~ Thanks for your kind condolences! The "Promised Land" is sounding pretty good right now!
Jim ~ My vote is for Dan's comment and youthful picture!
Richard ~ More thanks for another "Whacked" gold star! Not sure if I resemble that compliment!?!
Tom ~ If only it were so! Mr. (two-timing) Rambler left his entire estate to another Realtor!
Okay, I've updated the picture, I felt young for a while, but I'm feeling my age again. Thanks for the fun comments.
Melinda - I love this post ! The ramblers will ramble in the after-life. I've burried my fare share only to find out later that they made the adjustments I repeated over and over .
Very cute! I love it! I hope he doesn't haunt you.
This is a very creative way to say "Goodbye", "So long" to a listing that cannot be revived! I loved this Melinda!
Dan ~ Oh, to be young again :)
Claude ~ Glad you enjoyed the post and my twisted sense of humor!
Angelica ~ Love your name, I could do a post about that alone :)
Wanda ~ Sometimes, it just feels good to bury the past!
Hi Melinda, Hope there are a few plots left in the cemetery I have a few to bury myself !
