The following pictures were posted on a Facebook group called "Really Bad MLS Photos." It is hard to believe that there are Agents who think photos like this are acceptable to use in marketing a property for sale, let alone, placing the photo on the MLS.
Active Rain Professionals, what is wrong with this 1st picture? I hope you have a sense of humor when you look in the window! Perhaps some staging advice is in order from the Dog Whisperer :)
On a more serious note, why are we seeing more really bad photos like this posted on MLS? I don't get it. Perhaps picture-taking and staging should be required courses for all Agents to obtain their real estate license. Am I being too hard here, or do you see really bad photos like this in your MLS?
Take a look at these pictures:
Check out the sign in front of the house below. Yes folks, this picture was really posted on MLS!

This one looks like a giant green mud-pie!

Holy Cow! This brings new meaning to Knick-Knacks!

A bonus ironing room, perhaps?

Look honey, more storage!

Dining at dusk - How romantic!

Not sure if they are marketing the lovely pink carpeting, leaning closet doors, or hamster cage?!
Is that a rat or a hamster behind the cage?

You might want to think about getting out of the picture... or out the business!

Put the lid down! Better yet, leave this one out!

There are more Really Bad MLS Photos posted on Facebook, but I think you get the picture!

Can't believe some of these photo's-first impression the best impression. More care and concern should be given while taking pictures of listings.
I couldn't agree more Pat!
I love the first one, I bet it gets a lot of clicks! The others??? What were they thinking???
I have been hunting around getting an idea of values in a few neighborhoods where I do the lions share of my Mortgage guy stuff, and cant believe how poorly represented they are... So many shots dont even show you the entire home, if they just took one step back you could see the house ...
Bad pix have been my pet peeve for years
Well, here in Honolulu, where a few good pictures should be able to sell "paradise", most agents who lit condominiums like I do let the MLS (for a fee) post a generic, low resolution, building photo. Ijust can't figure out how or shy they could be so lazy.
Melinda, I have to say, the pictures are just as bad here (if they post any at ALL!). I think it's shameful and a complete disservice to the homeowner. I don't know if it's laziness but I can't believe what they put up....
Melinda, I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen the first one circulated on the internet. As for the knick-knack picture...the good news for the seller is that they still have a little counter space and room under the exhaust for more knick-knacks! You really have to question what's going on between the ears of the photographer of the pink carpet shot...I better go review some of my listing shots.
Me too Robert! If it were only that easy Douglas!
Yikes! I've visited that webpage before and it's simply astonishing.
I think it is shameless too Carole! You are so funny Nick!
Melinda ~it's hard to imagine how an agent thought those photos were "OK" for posting online. What a disservice to their clients! I see them too in our own MLS and just shake my head, feeling sorry for the sellers.
Astonishing is a nice way of saying pitiful Wendy! I am wondering how many Sellers look at their home online after the listing goes life Maureen?! I think they would be shocked to see what we (and the general public) see. Thanks for your comments!
The first room would look good after about 30 minutes of staging and a homeowner with a big stick to chase the dogs out of the yard! Some are so dark and blurry, who knows what they are pictures of. These homes could be gorgeous, but the pictures online are not doing their jobs of attracting potential home buyers to take the next step and visit the home. The "Green Blob" is just scary. It really is a shame with today's high definition digital cameras and cropping and enhancing software (you can brighten up a dark picture), there really is no excuse for these pictures. Great post!
Ummm, where IS the hampster?!?! Did you notice the door to the cage is open? As if that was the only thing they had to worry about...
You are so right Kate! It's a funny question Connie! Ha!
Melinda,
These are truly horrible pictures which any professional realtor should know better than to post on MLS. That is a given.
Your comment about sellers following up on MLS is a very valid point as well. I cannot understand why a seller would not follow up and look at the photos and write up about their house.
On two separate occasions, when I followed up on the sale of our house, the MLS photos were a problem. The first time, the realtor had posted the pix of the house he had sold us 5 years before, not the renovated one he was selling for us 5 years later. A quick call to him corrected that problem.
On the 2nd occasion, the MLS photos were not loading properly. Again, a quick call to the realtor was required to ensure our photos were seen.
This is definitely a scenario where "you snooze, you lose".
Great collection of awful photos! How funny....
Hi Sharon & Marilyn ~ Isn't it amazing that an Agent can get away with posting these awful pictures on the MLS? It should be a crime, PUNISHABLE by a FINE! Ha!
Thanks for the laugh! Too bad it's at some poor homeowner's expense...
These just brightened my day :) Thanks for making me smile.
Thanks Shelley & Rochelle ~ I laugh too, when I see strange pictures on the MLS, and wonder... what were they thinking!
