My batteries are fully charged... are yours? Every month, I take a 'mini' vacation to southern California to re-energize my soul. Through the years, I've discovered that it's important to step away from my business to replenish and rejuvenate my spirit on a regular basis.
The funny thing is, each time I announce that I'm leaving... buyers and sellers start coming out of the woodwork (a bonus). Then the question becomes... Should I still go? Absolutely! Why? Because... this business is so complex and demanding, that if you don't make time for you, you'll experience burn-out. Some of you know exactly what I mean.
Burn-out can be a symptom of another problem. The problem can be a lack of setting good boundaries for yourself. It might be the inability or reluctance to say 'no' when necessary (Oh no... say it isn't so Joe!). Burn-out can also result from having unrealistic expectations and/or choosing to work with clients you should never work with (square pegs don't fit into round holes... so, why do we try to make them?). Understanding your 'burn-out' symptoms can be an incredibly helpful tool. Being intuitive enough to pay attention to the signs and heed their warnings can help to identify the things you need to do to replenish and rejuvenate your spirit. It's what makes the bunny keep on going.
For this bunny, the remedies are simple... a little fun in the sun, dancing to some fabulous tunes, seeing my grand-baby, enjoying the company of friends, engaging in conversation, dining at a favorite cafe, and of course... last but not least, eating chocolate ;) My batteries are fully charged and this bunny is rearing to go.
