Make Mine a Grande Mocha

Make Mine a Grande MochaMake Mine a Grande Mocha.  The days of ordering your favorite grande skinny caramel mocha could soon be over.  Things may be made a bit easier for coffee lovers sick of having to scan a menu board to decipher the size of their caffeine hit.

The Plain English Campaign, which battles against jargon, wants cafes and coffee chains to dump their fancy size labels like grande, tall and regular.  Instead they want to end confusion by having coffee shops stick with small, medium or large.

A campaign spokeswoman said words like 'regular' mean nothing to customers.  She said: "Almost every cafe now seems to ask if you want regular. They use the word regular when they really mean small or medium. That's not what regular means - it's irregular use of language."

"We have three perfectly good words to describe drink sizes which everyone understands. Cafes should stick to them and stop pointlessly offering this meaningless regular size."

For now, you can make mine a grande mocha!
