Make Me Hot! I went on a listing appointment the other day, to one of my former client's home in Grants Pass Oregon. After chatting for awhile about the best strategy to get her home listed and sold, our conversation drifted off course into personal matters.
On many occasions throughout my real estate career, I've found myself wearing a variety of hats when dealing with clients. This day, my hat was one of marriage counselor/motivator. My client confided that after several years of being married, the spark in her relationship with her husband had slowly dimmed. They would soon be celebrating their 10-yr anniversary and she wasn't terribly excited.
My client shared that she had gained some weight after the birth of their son, and the extra weight was wreaking havoc on her self-esteem. Her husband wasn't terribly happy about the added pounds either. I offered some friendly advice and encouraged her to go out and buy the hottest looking outfit she could find so she could strutt her stuff on her anniversary date with her hubby. She said she didn't know if she had the fashion sense to buy the right outfit. I told her not to worry, just go up to the counter at Fashion Bug (a cute little fashion store in Grants Pass) and say; "Make Me Hot!"
My client laughed, but she still had a little trebidation about what to buy. So, once again, I offered my two cents... buy a cute pair of jeans (not your mother's jeans), a v-neck blouse that shows a little something and has a little bling, and a sassy pair of boots to bring it all together. She said okay and agreed to follow my advice. (Don't you wish every seller would do the same?!).
A few days later, my client called, and without introduction, she said; "There's no cleavage, but it has bling!" I was caught off guard and didn't recognize the caller's voice right away. When I realized who it was, we both laughed our heads off. Make Me Hot was a huge success! Sometimes it's the little things in life that bring the greatest reward ;)
