Free Entry - National Parks Week - April 17-25, 2010 Free Entry - National Parks Week - April 17-25, 2010.  Visitors to National Parks will enjoy free entrance during the week of April 17 through April 25, 2010 at nearly 400 National Parks.  This is a perfect opportunity to check out some of our collectively owned wild spaces, and to remind yourself why they are an important and valuable resource.

Here in Oregon you can visit the Oregon Caves National Monument in Southern Oregon, Crater Lake, John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, the Lewis and Clark National Historic Park or Fort Vancouver.  Close to the Oregon California border there is Tule Lake and the Lava Beds National Monument, as well as the Redwoods National Park.

Entrance fees will be waived from April 17-25, 2010, but camping fees still apply.  In some places you can make camping reservations, so check on that before you go.  If you can't take advantage of the free Park entry, consider buying an annual pass.  The fees for passes are $80 per year, or if you are are 62 or older, you qualify for a lifetime senior pass for just $10.  Lifetime passes for disabled folks are free.

If you live close to a National Park, why not become a volunteer?  Aside from doing a good deed, the National Parks Service will reward you with an annual pass for free once you have logged 500 volunteer hours.  So head on out to the wilderness and experience these magical places during National Parks Week - April 17-25, 2010.  Enjoy the free entry into Southern Oregon's most beautiful National Parks!
