Facebook and Some Stunning Revelations!

Facebook and Some Stunning Revelations!Facebook and Some Stunning Revelations!  I recently had the arduous task of interviewing several applicants for a personal assistant position.  After one week of advertising on CraigsList, I received approximately 100 responses to the ad.

I was pretty surprised at the magnitude of over-qualified individuals applying for an entry level position and willing to drive 30-40 miles to work each day.  Some had Masters Degrees and BA Degrees, while others were looking for something better than McDonalds.  But the biggest surprise came from the interviews and what happened after that.

After sifting through some heavy gum chewers, nervous laughs and one person who said they hated anyone who hated dogs... (I'm not a dog hater... just saying), I finally found a candidate I thought would be a good fit.  When I checked out her Facebook page, I saw an interesting profile pic of her sitting in a lawn chair appearing tipsy with a bottle of beer between her legs.  And when I read her comments about how she 'walked out' on her last employer and told them to 'suck it,' I made up my mind, she was fired before she was hired.

Fortunately, the next day, a colleague of mine referred me to a great gal who was perfect for the job.  After checking out her Facebook page, I hired her.  The moral of the story is...  Be careful what you post on Facebook, or you may find some stunning revelations of your own!
